WS_FTP
FTP is another way to get your files onto the internet. Download yourself
a copy of WS_FTP
and install it. Once it's installed, follow these instructions for setting
it up:
- Start Program
- A box will
come up called Session Properties
- Under Host
Name/Address place ftp.yourdomain.com
- Under User
ID place your username.
- Under Password
place your password.
- Press OK.
*You will need
to contact your server administrator to find out your exact FTP address
At this point,
the program will start and connect you through to your account. On
the right side of the screen you'll see what is in your directory
(Remote System).. and on the right side of the screen, you'll
see the files that are in your computer (Local System). (If
you here an "Oh Oh!" sound this means that you are not connected through
and the most likely reason is that the server is tied up, please try
again later)
On the left side
of the program, under the Local System area, you should see
the following: C:\Program Files\WS_FTP (if you installed the
program into the default directory of Program Files) and then below
that, a list of files.
Click on the
arrow at the top of all those files.. until you see that the Local
System reads C:\. Once that is done, find the file folder
where you have your files for your pages stored at. Open the file
folder by double clicking it.
Find the exact
file you wish to transfer, and single click it so it is highlighted.
Then click on the arrow in the middle of the two screens, that is
pointing to the right. This will transfer your file over to your account.
You may transfer more then one file at a time by highlighting the
first file by holding down the shift key, and highlighting
the last file you wish to transfer. If you want to transfer files
that aren't all in a row, hold down the CTRL key instead of
the shift
